Alessa Esteban

Mexican artist Alessa Esteban works in a variety of media - drawing, painting, sculpture, film, and performance - using her own life as inspiration. Her drawings involve cartoonish depiction of girls, often in pink and red hues. Esteban completed a Master’s Degree in Psychoanalysis, a discipline that she refers to throughout her work.


Esteban graduated from La Esmeralda Academy in Mexico City where she taught in 2012. She has participated in residency in Austria, Künsterhaus Studio Salzburg, and continued to live in Austria for five years. She is the recipient of numerous grants, including Miss Balthazar’s Laboratory in Vienna, Bamboo Curtain Studio in Taipei, Scholarship for foreign studies FONCA in Vienna, and the Secretary of Public Education Scholarship in Mexico City.
