The use of classic patterns, fabrics, tone, and color set against themes of sexuality, beauty, and unease is a duality is endemic to the work of artist Alika Cooper. Cooper's art aims to reverse the way we view traditional landscapes and the human form, encouraging the viewer to observe the body as a landscape and the landscape as a "more ambiguous line between abstraction and representation."
Cooper's work has been displayed throughout the United States, as well as in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy and has won multiple awards and honors, including the Yesland Prize and the Jack and Gertrude Murphy Fellowship.
