Anna Parkina

Russian artist Anna Parkina works in a wide range of media, from performance, to sculpture, to works on paper. While studying in Paris at the École des Beaux Arts, Parkina practiced printmaking, producing magazines, books, and posters. The notion of "editions" is part of her understanding of art, which she feels "is close to life and to 'propaganda.'" Collage is now her main medium, and she says "it takes a different dimension, with the texture and vibrations that come with ornamental alternation of color and shape."

Parkina's work was included in the 2009 Venice Biennale exhibition Making Worlds, curated by Daniel Birnbaum, and she was the subject of a solo solo at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2011.
