Ben Shahn

Ben Shahn was an American painter, photographer and designer of Lithuanian origin. He exhibited his works at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1954. In 1984, the Japanese magazine Idea placed him among the thirty most influential artist of the twentieth century. Ben Shahn worked on social and political issues throughout his artistic life. From 1935 he was, as a photographer, alongside Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange, in the Farm Security Administration and documented the living and working conditions in the American countryside during the years of the Great Depression.
