Carlos Alfonso

Colombian artist Carlos Alfonso ran an exhibition and studio space in Bogota from 2008-2012 after studying Plastic and Industrial Design. After traveling through Europe and participating in several residencies, Alfonso settled in Brussels, creating work that combines found and made objects in unusual and even insecure ways. Incorporating furniture, ropes and elastic bands into his installations, Alfonso arranges odd visual juxtapositions that interrupt the surrounding space. His drawings take reference from comic books, and abstract illustrations, rendering trees and buildings with crude lines and shapes.

Alfonso has shown in a number of galleries and group shows since 2008 including SKETCH, Bogotá, Colombia, Stichting Flat, Bijlmer, Amsterdam, Komplot, Brussels, Belgium, CBK Zuidoost, Amsterdam, Gallery Santa Fe, Bogotá, Colombia and Gallery Espacio 101, Bogotá, Colombia.
