Charbel-joseph H. Boutros

Charbel Boutros-Joseph H’s work mingles Romanticism with an heritage of Conceptual art. In

his work disappearance is a mode of visual suggestion, conveying historical and intimate meanings, finding poetic lines that extend beyond the realm of existing realities. Being born in the middle of the Lebanese war, his art is not engaged in an explicit political and historical reflection, but is more accurately haunted by the said political and historical reflection.

H. Boutros was a researcher at Jan van Eyke Academie in Holand and an artist-in-residence at the Palais de Tokyo. His work has been presented internationally, at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Beiruth Art Center, Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia, Fons Welters Gallery in Amsterdam, Grey Noise Gallery in Dubai and LISTE 19 in Basel, and Morschbroich Museum.
