Christopher Davison

Working in a variety of mediums; including chalk, collage, pastels, and watercolors; New York-based artist Christopher Davison creates figurative works peopled with whimsical, yet dark characters. Drawing influence from texts on shamanism, christian mythical saints, alchemy, and Greek tragedy, Davison incorporates imagery such as severed heads, snakes, skeletons, skulls, and severed limbs. He sees his practice as an ego-erraticator, which yields something deeper than the conscious mind can conjure.

Davison earned his MFA in printmaking from the Tyler School of Art. He has been included in exhibitions in New York, Miami, Copenhagen, Philadelphia, Boston, Rome, Los Angeles and Brussels. His work is included in the collections of the Rose Art Museum (MA); University of Alabama (AL); Museum of the Hague (Netherlands); and SOHO House (NYC). He is a part-time professor of art in Philadelphia at the University of the Arts, and Moore College of Art.
