Christopher Pekoc

Since the 1970s, Christopher Pekoc has been pushing the medium of collage in experimental directions, often using a sewing machine to stitch together fragments of photographs and other materials. The results have been compared to mosaics and Klimt paintings, but their scratched and sanded surfaces align them with contemporary drawing and printmaking. A fixture on the Cleveland scene, Pekoc has received five fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council as well as the Cleveland Arts Prize's mid-career award for visual arts in 2007. His mural Night Sky can be seen in the Cleveland Public Library.
