About The Collection

By definition, a line is a geometric figure that has no curvature. It is formed by a point moving in a fixed direction and can extend infinitely. Artists often use lines as elements of composition to move the eye from one place to the other. Lines also define shape, form, and space. Dancers may criss-cross lines on a stage in organized movement while artists such as Richard Long and Hamish Fulton use the line as a mapping tool. The line allows works of art to occupy space beyond the boundaries of a flat surface, creating depth and dimensionality as well as clues about what it important in a work.

Although we don’t consciously pay attention to lines in our everyday life, they are everywhere; they connect us and make us interdependent in the global world in which we live today.
