About The Work
To coincide with his inclusion in The London Open 2015, Whitechapel Gallery’s triennial, Damien Meade created two series’ of unique inkjet prints. Taking as their source his manipulated photographs, Meade introduces an ambiguity to a format typically used to make perfect reproductions. By tampering with the inkjet process, each image is made unstable and subject to chance, creating a diversity of variations in surface and effect. Through the process, the represented objects take on an element of ambivalence, oscillating between lifeless and sentient figures, object and subject.
