Danny Keith's portraits celebrate male beauty and explore clichés of masculinity. His most recent series, Flannel and Fur, included fifteen paintings and one bust of young, bearded men, some clothed only in fur, others draped in flannel. In these detailed and intimate works, the subjects are portrayed as masculine, beautiful, and quietly erotic, though the relationship between subject and artist remains ambiguous. Keith's approach to painting and sculpture is academic in its subject, proportions, and use of light and color, but they present a distinctly contemporary view of manliness.Read Less
