Darren Wardle

Darren Wardle's work captures empty urban and domestic landscapes in super-saturated, Day-glo colors. Reminiscent of sets for a science fiction film, and the cold perfection of architectural plans, Wardle's work is heavily influenced by the landscape of Los Angeles, his adopted city, much like Ed Ruscha before him. His depictions recall haunting, post-apocalyptic compositions that add an emotional element to the typically serene landscape genre. The recipient of Arts Victoria and Export and Touring grant for solo shows at Stephan Stoyanov Gallery, Wardle is working as an artist in residence at Point B Worklodge in Brooklyn.
