American artist Devin Powers creates installations, paintings, and drawings of systems of interconnected and discordant geometric shapes. He works with his hands so that his artworks contain smudges, which highlight the materials and disrupt the perfection of the geometric constructions. Hypergeometry—geometry of more than three dimensions—and multi-dimensional mathematics influence Powers, and he explains of his work that "nothing here is perfect or pure. And everything with form is expressed through material." He notes that color too, disturbs his designs and brings more energy into his paintings, an energy which represents the emerging space and excitement around new technology. Powers has had solo shows at the Kent Place Gallery in 2011, the Win Wilder Hall in 2001 and at the Lesley Heller Workspace in 2012.
