Erica-Lynn Huberty

Erica Lynn Huberty utilizes various techniques, such as embroidery, to create artwork that is replete with intricate detail, often incorporating textiles, trim, and lace that she has collected. While her use of diverse materials links her practice to collage, Huberty considers her work to be more indebted to painting, drawing particular inspiration from Dutch and Flemish Old Masters. Interested in the role that women have played in society throughout history, Huberty aims for her art to be considered "a symbol of feminine self worth," often filling her canvases with images of nature, plants, animals, and human figures. In addition to her work as an artist, Huberty is the author of Dog Boy and Other Harrowing Tales, a collection of short stories published in 2010.
