Eve Wood

Artist Eve Wood creates narrative portraits of anthropomorphic figures with organic elements that underscore the individuals persona. Working from photographs of friends and individuals in her community, Wood creates mythological paintings that combine humans and animals, flowers, and fire. In the portrait Self Imposed Fire, 2010, Wood depicts a surreal figure whose long beard is transformed into fire. These imaginative works depict the individual’s quest to integrate the contradictions contained within them.

Eve Wood’s work has been included in group and solo shows, including Pacific Design Center, Los Angeles, Western Project, Los Angeles, Angel's Gate Cultural Arts Center, San Pedro, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica, Vincent Price Museum, Monterey Park, and Weatherspoon Museum, North Carolina. She has received a Brody Foundation Grant and a Jacob Javits Fellowship.
