Eve Sussman

British-born American artist Eve Sussman's diverse practice includes film, video, sculpture, photography, and installation, focusing on solitary, quotidian narratives within the context of the framed, choreographed and scripted. She often begins with familiar masterworks, such as Diego Velásquez's Las Meninas and Jacques-Louis David's The Intervention of the Sabine Women, translating them into large-scale reenactments steeped in fabricated anecdotes. In 2003 Sussman began working under the rubric, Rufus Corporation, a "think tank" including performers, artists, musicians, writers, and programmers who collaborate to create works of art. Sussman's work has shown internationally in exhibitions at The Reina Sofia in Madrid, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, The Louisiana Museum in Denmark, and The National Gallery in London.
