Frank Darius

The melancholy photographs by Frank Darius provide a genuine view of reality. Some of his urban and rural landscapes, his images of people and objects, seem to have been created accidentally, and yet they are always carefully composed. Despite what at first seems to be a cool, documentary-style appearance, a closer inspection shows that they are lovingly observed. Details are discovered, humorous tales told. Some erotic motifs are also captured with great humanity.

He has had solo exhibitions atAkademie der Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart, RAUMSECHS in Düsseldorf, Städtische Galerie Kornhaus in Kirchheim/Teck, Kunsthalle Erfurt, and Essl Museum in Vienna, among others. His works have been included in group exhibitions at institutinos such as Gesellschaft der Freunde Junger Kunst in Baden-Baden, Museo de Arte in Monterrey, Museo de Arte Moderna in Sáo Paulo, Museo de Arte in Buenos Aires, and Goethe-Institut in Madrid.
