    About The Work

This photograph shows director Billy Wilder on the set of The Seven Year Itch adjusting Marilyn Monroe's golden locks, as she strikes her iconic pose over the subway grate, wearing the infamous white dress. Because Monroe's husband, Joe DiMaggio, objected to her panties showing, she concealed them at the shoot. Worth was the only photographer to capture a "panty" shot.
