Gigi Scaria

Gigi Scaria’s work reflects the rapid economic, industrial, and urban growth of cities in India. Working in both painting as well as digital photography, Scaria presents images such as maps and industrial architecture, emphasizing the experience and the aesthetic of the urban landscape of India.

Born in Kothanalloor, Kerala, India in 1973, Scaria received his B.F.A in painting from the College of Fine Arts in Thiruvananthapuram and his M.F.A. in painting from The Jamia Millia University in New Delhi. He has been the subject of numerous solo shows throughout India, and has been included in notable group exhibitions such as the Singapore Biennale and the Venice Biennale in 2011. He has received numerous awards, residencies, and honors internationally.
