Heji Shin

Photographer Heji Shin creates cinematic portraits that explore desire, style, and violence. Ranging from fashion models to zoo animals, Shin’s subjects are highly staged, and the artist often manipulates the details using analog and digital production, such as double exposure. "My photography is not unimportant but secondary," she says. "I believe the best photographs emerge in the head."

She has had solo exhibitions at Galerie Bernhard in Zürich and Real Fine Arts in Brooklyn. Her works have been included in group exhibitions at Foxy Productions in New York and Anna-Catharina Gebbers at Bibliothekswohnung in Berlin.
