Hreinn Fridfinnsson is a frontrunner in Icelandic conceptual art. His works, often referred to as lyrical and poetic, are simple in composition and made from found objects. They are meant to explore the everyday human experience and to transcend the mundane materials from which they are made to evoke strong emotions in the viewer.
While he currently lives and works in Amsterdam, Fridfinnsson grew up amongst the scenery of rural Iceland, and his ties to his childhood and his home country is present in his work. He has had solo shows at Malmo Konsthall, the Reykjavik Art Museum and Serpentine Gallery, Domaine de Kerguehennec, Centre d'Art Contemporain, and the Kyoto Art Center.
