Isaac Resnikoff

Isaac Resnikoff graduated with a BFA from the Cooper Union in 2002 and plans to finish his MFA at UCLA in 2009. He lives and works in Los Angeles. Resnikoff’s practice draws on American folk art traditions as well as fine art conventions in sculpture and drawing that lampoon and celebrate American history and ideology. His sculptures of coffeepots, candles, and bars of soap, for instance, are whittled out of wood and represent American thought from the Revolutionary War to the present, questioning what it means to be American, and how objects attain mythic status.
