Humor and accessibility abound in Jay Stuckey's paintings and collages, betraying the hidden intricacy and purpose instilled in his work. Using both representational and abstract elements, Stuckey engages his audience in a unique way by re-contextualizing familiar images in order to ask questions of the viewer instead of imposing ideas or positions. Stuckey desires his images to reveal themselves in a subtle and durative manner, rewarding the same qualities he hones within himself and his students: perseverance.
