Jennifer Abessira

Jennifer Abessira (b. 1984) is a Parisian artist who lives and works in Tel-Aviv. Abessira’s professional career in fine art began to receive popular recognition when she was chosen for the ‘Rise Photographer’ in Dazed & Confused magazine in 2010. In the same year she was chosen as one of the top ten rising photographers. In 2011, she collaborated with Vivienne Westwood on her project, 100 Days of Active Resistance. In 2012 her first zine was released by Berlin publishing company Pogo Books, for her ongoing project, Elastique.


She received a B.A. in General History and French Literature, and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts–both at the Tel Aviv University. In 2015, she received her MFA at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.Abessira has exhibited internationally in galleries including Soho Revue in London; Sommer in Tel Aviv; the Triennale in Milan; and the Fresh Paint Art Fair in Tel Aviv.  In 2014, a selection of her works was published by Mooooon, a publisher based in Madrid. In August 2014 she had her first solo show, "We Live As We Dream–Alone," at ArtStation Gallery in Tel Aviv. In 2016, she did a 6 month residency in Paris's “Cité internationale des Arts”.
