Jim Osman

Jim Osman is a sculptor and installation artist who often uses found materials to create surprising and playful new works. Frequently taking as his starting point simple geometric forms, Osman joins the pieces together, creating works that explore the limits of form and balance, creating unexpected, often seemingly precarious new shapes. Osman draws on familiar materials, including chairs, chalk, and even rubber balls, re-contextualizing them to create new sculptural objects that challenge viewers' perceptions, interacting with and transforming the space in which they are displayed, whether a gallery interior or outdoors.

Osman's work has been exhibited at institutions including Brooklyn Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, and the Queens Museum.
