John Pilson

John Pilson uses the lense of irony in his photography and video to focus on the absurdity of mundane aspects of everyday life. By focusing on the routine, Pilson explores the limits of comfort and safety and the potential for their rupture through shocking and preposterous narratives. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others. Among other international exhibitions of note, his work was featured, and awarded, in the 49th Venice Biennale in 2001.

John Pilson is represented by Nicole Klagsbrun in New York.
