Jonah Freeman & Justin Lowe

Installation artists Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe fuse film, sound, and architectural elements to transform exhibition spaces into a world where reality is composed of materiality and people are thus once removed. Freeman and Lowe carefully mask spaces by implementing painstaking details that draw from historical and fictional narratives. Their maze-like architectural installations allow for dystopian visions and psychotic episodes to become tangible in a hyper-realistic setting. These consuming spaces are often influenced by youth subcultures that identify with their objects and clothing, creating environments that embody specific personalities and the people who might actually inhabit these worlds.

Freeman and Lowe have created installations at Red Bull Studios in New York, Marlborough Chelsea in New York, Winfield House in London, 21C Museum Hotel in Louisville, Art Basel: Unlimited in Basel, Switzerland, MOCA in Los Angeles, The Standard Hotel in Los Angeles, Deitch Projects in New York, and Marfa Ballroom in Texas. Recently they have been featured in publications such as Artnews, W Magazine, Artinfo, Artnet, The New York Observer, Dazed Magazine, Vice, The New York Times, and Artforum.
