Jordi Alcaraz

Catalonian artist Jordi Alcaraz violently ruptures the surfaces of his works, fracturing glass covers, puncturing holes in paper, or embedding objects such as stones, staples, and mirrors. By physically transgressing the facades, the artist draws attention to the space between the viewer and a work of art. His hanging wall works, free standing sculptures, and book-like assemblages, expose the processes of their creation, commenting on how the language of art shapes perception.

He has had a retrospective at Sala Tecla in Barcelona, as well as solo exhibitions at Tomlinson Kong Contemporary in New York and Galerie Stefan Röpke in Cologne, among others. His work has been included in group exhibitions at institutions such as Museu de pintura de Sant Pol de Mar in Barcelona, Centre d’Art Contemporani in Girona, and Palacio de Velázquez in Madrid.
