Karim Noureldin

Swiss artist Karim Noureldin’s geometrical abstractions are meticulously executed using colored pencil or pen on paper. He refers to the works as ‘room drawings’ and describes abstraction as an international language with local dialects. Though his compositions may appear mathematical and calculated, Noureldin’s process relies much more on intuition than calculation. Evidence of this intuitive gesturing can be seen in his delicate handling of line and color, both subtle and complex.

Noureldin has had numerous solo exhibitions in Switzerland including Centre d’art contemporain in Yverdon-les-Bains, Mamco Musée d’art moderne et contemporain in Geneva,  and Fri Art Centre d’Art Contemporain in Fribourg. His work has been shown extensively internationally including The Swiss Institute in New York, Holly Solomon Gallery in New York, and Lucas Schoormans New York. In 2002, Noureldin was appointed Senior Professor at the University of Art in Design École cantonale d’art de Lausanne in Switzerland.
