Kathrin Sonntag

Sonntag creates installations out of films, photographs, watercolor paintings, and ordinary things such as tables and chairs that, when taken out of context, unsettle the viewer's preconceived notions about a specific object. Frequently employing mirrors and windows in her installations to refract, fragment, and juxtapose the pieces employed in her compositions, Sonntag treats subject matter including the paranormal and the Dracula myth.

Sonntag participated in SculptureCenter's exhibition "Leopards in the Temple" in 2010. She has also had recent solo exhibitions at Kunstraum Walcheturm, Zürich, Switzerland, Swiss Institute, New York and the Gesellschaft für Aktuelle Kunst GAK, Bremen, Germany. She was the recipient of the Swiss Art Award, 2009.
