Kelli Connell

Photographer Kelli Connell uses digital manipulation to explore the instability of identity. At first glance, her images of women arguing, laughing, and kissing appear to be confessional and intimate portraits of friends and lovers. Quite the contrary: they are constructed by combining two or more images of the same person in Adobe Photoshop. Using a single model to play multiple parts in her narrative, Connell suggests that our identities aren't fixed but always shifting according to our interpersonal relationships. Connell's work has been included in numerous national solo and group exhibitions and is in many collections, including those of LACMA, Microsoft, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
