About The Artist

Leon Golub’s work boldly confronts the misuse of power and state-sponsored oppression and violence through vibrant and emotive paintings. Coming from an era of anti-Vietnam War protests, Golub’s work is socially and politically engaged. His former series have names like Vietnam, Mercenaries, Interrogation, Riots, and Try Burning This One. Formally, his work draws from classical Greek figures and methods, with an emphasis on the strength and resilience of the human body.
