Louisa Gagliardi

Surreal, glowing and visceral, the digital illustrations and works of Louisa Gagliardi transform canvas space into otherworldly landscapes of neon colored flesh. Knobby knuckles grasping cigarettes, high cheekbones and wide, feral eyes mark Gagliardi’s erogenous bodies, which she paints with haunting fluidity.

Gagliardi has shown in a number of galleries and institutions including Tomorrow, New York, Pullman Hotel, London, Ellis King, Dublin, Plymouth Rock, Zurich, Carlos/Ishikawa, Swiss Design Award, Basel, Galerie Ephemere, Hublot, Verbier, Up–State, Zürich, Taylor Macklin, Zürich, Temporär, Zürich, White Squat Gallery, Zürich, ELAC, Lausanne. Illustration and graphic design work includes L’Officiel Suisse, Bloomberg Pursuits, POV Paper, Unit Editions, Wallpaper* Magazine, Etapes Magazine, Mousse Magazine, The Fader, and Library Paper, among numerous others. Her awards include The 2015 Pullman X Wallpaper* Prize, 2014 Swiss Design Award, 2012 Canton Bank Prize and 2009 Excellency Award, ECAL.
