About The Work
Ode á la Bièvre recalls one of Louise Bourgeois’s childhood memories: in 1919, at the age of eight, her family moved to the outskirts of Paris, and the young artist was delighted to find the Bièvre river flowed through her backyard. This special-edition work features a remarkable clothbound book as well as two photographs of the artist's family garden—one dates to 1920 and the other to 1951, when the artist returned for a visit.
