Mason Saltarrelli

The work of Brooklyn-based artist Mason Saltarrelli navigates the connections between spirituality, mortality and narrative, using various found and invented symbols to examine intersecting motifs. Allowing his intuition to lead an expressive painting process—which often includes stains, tears, footprints and outside debris— the artist says, “my work is primarily about narrative.” Mysterious in their abstraction, Saltarrelli’s works on paper are often left outdoors for long periods of time near his studio in Montauk, New York, adding another element of exposure to his compositions. Saltarrelli’s work has been included in a number of exhibitions including Randall Scott Projects. Washington, D.C., Coup d’oeil Art Consortium. New Orleans, Retrospective Gallery, Hudson, NY, Geukens & De Vil. Knokke, Belgium, and Gallery Steinsland Berliner. Stockholm, Sweden.
