Melanie Schiff Bio

About The Artist

Los Angeles-based photographer Melanie Schiff often focuses on the themes of popular and youth culture, as well as the body in her work. Covering diverse subjects, including still-life and self-portraits, her art seems to reflect moments suspended between the past and the present. Schiff also seeks to capture and preserve the moments when everyday objects and events come together to create an unexpected or remarkable effect.

Schiff's work has been exhibited at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art and was included in the 2008 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in the United States and internationally.
