About the Work
Presented as a multi-screen installation, Between You and Me is a kaleidoscopic view of insignificant moments that seem to be happening just before or just after dramatic moments. The film follows six characters as their paths intersect and are connected by the objects they carry – the books taken from library shelves, the letters handled in a post office, a pot of coffee in a diner—that accumulate meaning when viewed in the Stansells' compositions.
About the Artist
Micah and Whitney Stansell work in a variety of media, ranging from textiles, sculpture, painting, and drawing to single and multi-channel film and video works and installation. Inspired by both the visual and oral history of their families and the places that they have called home, their heartbreaking yet joyful work exudes a unity that is rare in any coupling, especially one that works together.
The Stansells' work has been reviewed in numerous publications including Art in America, Moviemaker Magazine, and The Atlanta Journal Constitution.
