Michael Krueger

Grounded firmly in the tradition of drawing, American artist Michael Krueger employs a variety of media including painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and animation. His work reflects an interest in American history, contemporary American culture, and art history, and often carries a psychedelic whimsy and weightlessness. His images, some of which are illustrative while others entirely abstract, often reference the natural world; bees, trees, and picturesque landscapes permeate his work, though their representation is often more vivid and colorful than their real-world manifestations.

Krueger has held solo exhibitions at Steven Zevitas Gallery in Boston, New York’s Sunday L.E.S. and Blackburn 20/20, and the Dolphin Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri. Selected groups exhibitions include The Drawing Center in New York, KRETS Gallery in Sweden, The Denver Museum of Art, Ambusher Contemporary in Munich, Glasgow Print Studio, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Museum in Philadelphia, and the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley. Krueger is currently a Full Professor of Art at the University of Kansas.
