Mitchell Anderson

Zurich-based conceptual artist Mitchell Anderson uses text, embroidery, and found materials to explore disjointed or fabricated narratives from pop culture, literature, and history. In a series of text-based works, Anderson replicates reports from newspapers to examine the slippage that occurs when text is mediated. In other work, such as Bracelet Briefcase Piece, 2015, Anderson presents an open briefcase with engraved bracelets displayed inside. Here, the audience is left to construct a narrative about the owner of the briefcase and the people whose names are engraved on the jewelry

Anderson’s work has been included in group and solo shows internationally, including Galerie Maria Bernheim, Zurich, Künste Reto Project Room, Zurich, Chez Rosenkranz, Zurich, Swiss Art Awards, Basel, Plymouth Rock, Zurich, Galerie Max Mayer, Dusseldorf, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, and Redling Fine Art, Los Angeles.
