Nicholas Stedman

Although Nicholas Stedman painted throughout his teens under the guidance of his school art mistress, the Scottish artist Nell Todd—and at Cambridge University where he exhibited at Kings College and Kettles Yard—he actually has a scientific education. After working as a biochemist while learning to draw in the Paris municipal art school in the Place des Vosges, he stopped his scientific work and completed his artistic education by studying artist’s materials with Nicolas Wacker at the École des Beaux arts and working for two years in the atelier of the lyrical abstract artist Zao-Wou Ki at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.

His work has been exhibited mainly in Europe for the last 30 years. Since 1998 he has had ten solo shows mainly in Paris including the Galerie le Monde de l'Art, Paris, Espace Croix Baragnon, Toulouse France, Galerie Jacob 1, Paris, Galerie Art et Littérature, Paris, and also in Italy at Spazioarte Pisanello in Verona. He has also participated in numerous group shows including the Salon de Montrouge, Génie de la bastille at the Opera Bastille, Espace Beaurepaire, Paris and Academie des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
