Oran Hoffmann

The work of Israeli artist Oran Hoffmann follows in the footsteps of European modernist artists such as Josef Albers, engaging with color and form through sculpture, photograph and theoretic framework. Much of his work is created through elaborate processes of reflection and representation, using mirrors and colored backgrounds. Optical illusion and configured perceptive leads the eye through the distortion of Hoffmann’s images. Inspired by various sources including Russian literature, Aristotelian theory, and Bauhaus aesthetics, Hoffmann’s works reflect a subtle manipulation of space.

Hoffmann has shown his work in a number of exhibitions and institutions including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Haifa Museum of Art, Haifa, Israel, Tempo Rubato, Tel Aviv, Israel, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Winterthur, Switzerland, Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Tel Aviv, Israel and Kunsthaus Essen, Essen, Germany, among others.
