Pablo Jansana
Pablo Jansana's multi-disciplinary practice involves painting, sculpture, collages and manipulation. He strives to create work that is highly charged and simultaneously empty. His eclectic use of materials—including resin, aluminum, wood or clay- develops his fascination with the visual importance and presentation of objects. Working with photography, and painting his interests have evolved into the realms of 3D, presenting still images in an ever more engaging and dynamic set-up. Sometimes obscures parts of his found photographs and magazine cutting play on the interpretation and interplay between images after his careful arrangement. His work might also be interpreted as a comment on populist vs. elitist art. But they are certainly not meant as criticism, as he is interested in both high and low culture and the materials themselves. "A way to talk about the future while talking about the past. It is our present moment."
Jansana's work has been shown in a number of galleries and institutions since 2002 including the Rema Hort Mann Foundation, New York, SmackMellon, New York, Bronx Museum, NY, Museo de Arte Moderno de Chiloé, Chile, ISCP, New York, The Goma, Madrid, and the AMA Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, D.C.
