A lithe woman balances precariously on a beam atop the Chelsea Hotel. Reminiscent of images by the French New Wave filmmakers in the 1960s, the black-and-white photograph is both romantic and nostalgic, yet very much grounded in modern day New York.
About the Artist
Pamela Hanson is a New York-based photographer and film-maker renowned for her fashion photography that reflects a European sensibility - born in London, she grew up in Geneva and attended the American school in Lugano before moving to the United States. Her work has graced the covers of leading print publications, including Vogue, Glamour, Vanity Fair, Elle, Jane, and Allure, among many others.
She has released two photography books, Girls (2001) and Boys (2006), both of which are collections of her personal and professional photographic work and depict boys and girls with whom Hanson has worked at all stages of life. Pamela Hanson resides in New York City.
