About The Artist

Perry Burns’s fundamental philosophy in life and art is “Peace at all cost.” His work is overtly political and blurs the line between photojournalism and art, raising questions about the impact of visual images in the news. He mentions censored media reports on wars and the disconnect viewers have from the reality of a situation and its documentation. It’s as if, the artist reports, “we, the viewer, are playing a video game while unseen people are dying in the streets.” His work aggressively confronts contemporary issues of war and politics and documents the U.S. conflict in the Middle East.

Holding degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design and Columbia University, Perry Burns has also received various artistic fellowships and has exhibited in numerous galleries and art fairs, including the Scope Art Fair in London.
