"This photograph was taken on a beach called Southerndown in South Wales (UK), in the fall of 2008. I was photographing the cliffs, when, suddenly, I saw a line of students from UWC Atlantic College walk down towards the water carrying their surfboards. Born in Rome, Italy, Priscilla Rattazzi has been living in the United States since 1974. She studied photography at Sarah Lawrence College, and later worked as the "Gal Friday" to the photographer Hiro, whose studio was one of the most glamorous places in New York in the 1970s.
Rattazzi—whose work is inspired by beauty not only in nature, but also in fashion—has shot campaigns for Fernando Sanchez, Mary Jane Marcasiano, and Fendi. Her photography has appeared in publications such as Redbook, Self, The New York Times Magazine, Vogue Italia, Donna, and Amica. Her photographs have been reviewed by various publications; The Southampton Press said of her work: "Ms. Rattazzi has rendered the snapshot engagingly vital, not just in terms of her memory nor as nostalgia for something remembered, but naked, bare as a piece of her soul…"
She has published four books and one portfolio and has exhibited on both a local and international scale. Most recently, her work was featured at the Ralph Lauren stores in East Hampton and Milan, in conjunction with the release of her book, Luna & Lola for Ralph Lauren.Read Less
