Raha Raissnia

Raha Raissnia’s formerly separate painting, drawing, and filmmaking practices have recently been interconnected, resulting in installations and performances where composite projections of hand-painted slides and films are layered on painted screens and panels. Her films and paintings influence one another, an influence she investigates through drawing.

Raissnia’s recent solo exhibitions include Series in Fugue at Miguel Abreu Gallery, NY (2013); Cosmography (in collaboration with Briggan Krauss), at The Kitchen, NY (2011); Glean, Galeria Marta Cervera, Madrid (2010); and Shorthand of Sensation, Galerie Xippas, Paris (2009). She is professor of drawing at Parsons The New School for Design and The City College of New York, CUNY.  Raissnia was born in Tehran, Iran.  She is represented by Miguel Abreu Gallery, New York.
