Rashid Rana

Born in Lahore, Pakistan during a time of upheaval, Rashid Rana attended the National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1992, before moving to the United States to study at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Rana's work has taken multiple forms, including abstractions on canvas, collage, photo mosaics, photo sculptures, video performances, and large stainless steel sculptures.

Rana’s work deals with everyday images drawn from pop culture and the urban surroundings, as well as the more abstract themes of faith and religion. His work often juxtaposes disparate imagery, as in his series Sites, which depicts abstracted images of human skin against photos of daily life.
