Rona Pondick

Rona Pondick's sculptures hybridize the human body with plants or animals, suggesting bizarre genetic mutations. Her works also fuse ancient and modern, Eastern and Western art forms; Buddhas and Egyptian deities morph into creatures recalling the sculptures of Giacometti or Louise Bourgeois. Exhibited widely since the early 1990s, Pondick has had solo exhibitions at the Worcester Art Museum and the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and has received awards including the Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship and the Guggenheim Fellowship.
