Rose Blake

An illustrator and artist, not to mention the daughter of British Pop Art icon Peter Blake, Rose Blake has made a name for herself in both the commercial illustration the fine art worlds with her bright, unique drawing style. Characterized by smooth color, playful patterns, and simplistic faces, her work consistently confronts the antiquated notion that illustration cannot stand on its own the way painting does. Her “museum” works, presented at her 2015 solo show Now I Am An Artist at Rebecca Hossack Gallery, capture brightly graphic crowds at galleries, museums and outdoor sculpture gardens. Weaving a rich narrative of modern art, digitally-designed characters and unique imagined spaces, Blake redefines the history and artistic merit of illustration.

Blake’s commercial client list includes The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Sunday Times Magazine, Random House, Walker, Studio Output, and Penguin Books among many others. She was awarded the D&AD Best New Blood in 2009 and was shortlisted for both the AOI Prize for Illustration and The World Illustration Awards in 2015.
