Sam Windett

Through intricately structured surfaces and crisp abstract forms Sam Windett emphasizes paint’s simultaneously simple yet overwhelming qualities. His pieces keep record of recognizable everyday objects of interest such as plants, birds, and animal horns, providing viewers with a careful depiction of evolution. This study of specific objects allows Windett to explore all avenues of abstraction and figuration to create a new language. As he submits detailed attention to these compositions each small canvas holds a feeling of ethereal importance while still remaining significantly playful and humorous.

Recently Windett has held solo shows at The Approach in London, Matc Foxx in Los Angeles, and Sies & Hoke in Dusseldorf, Germany. Additionally Windett has participated in several group shows at galleries such as Otter Gallery at the University of Chichester in West Sussex, England; Kinman Gallery in London, Patrick De Brock in Knokke, Belgium; Brand New Gallery in Milan,  LM/6a Project Room in London, and Maty Maty in Glasgow.
